problem with managing files in windows 21

when i load images to my P C now, they are stored in a file of individual images, not as a group file useing the date shot
how do i store them as a group file my date. i have tried to create them into a folder by date as previous versions of windows did but it will not let me, or i'm not going about it correctly

    Windows 21

(Tell me if you meant 11.)

I dunno, Muddie. Tell us what you're trying to do - process, programs, etc.
    CC, Image editing OK.

    ok windows 11
when i got my computer back from having the mother board replaced, a blackout killed t
my photos were arranged in columns of individual images
these columns were headed along the lines of recent, a week ago, a few weeks ago, and older (these are not exact wording)
not only that, but when i loaded new images, they were not listed until a day later
in fact images from the last 3 days, i can't find anywhere. and that is after loading them again to day. i have managed to get the images grouped into folders, but they in strict date order, for some reason
i managed to get stuff into folders by mucking around with the file options
i assume that the fix is somewhere in the file options, so all help appreciated
    cheers

Don't use Windows for uploading, file management or image viewing. It is primitive and subject to random changes. Use a made-for-purpose program. There are dozens, probably hundreds of packages around. Some are free, some cost a small amount. I'd be surprised if any one of them was not better than plain Windows. (Be that version 11, 10, 8.1, 7, XP, or even 21.) Among hundreds of examples, a few that come to mind are Downloader Pro, PMView, XNView, IrfanView, Lightroom, DxO Photostudio, Paintshop Pro, Breeze Browser ... and I've only scratched the surface. Using Windows for uploading, file management, and viewing is like using pocket knife as a screwdriver, hammer, and Allen key. Yes, it is possible, but do yourself a favour and look around for some better tools.

Thanks for this thread, I find Windows to be a bit clunky. I have Lightroom and have never considered this as an option.

    Muddie. Where's your screenshot...?

After reading your post again I figured you could only be talking about
    Windows File Explorer display...

So look at my screenshot below for what to do ("Click on") to get what
    I think you mean...

Win 10 file settings for Large icons in Date order descending...
