Or, Happy Birthday to Some-of-Us

Yes, Mudgee officially turned 200 this week < read 28.57 of these = 200

I went past this house and stopped to ask the owner (I've known him for[ty or more] years) what the decorations were about.

I was when he told me, as last time that thought crossed my mind was about last December. I had roundly frgotten about it since. His family has been in the district since the 1840s.

Anyway, this is a pano I took (the owner was too camera-shy to be in it, but then he's a bit of a celebrity now). The flags in the BG are royalty-free images (links below).

Apparently the celebrations have been muted. I remember in 1971 the town was in party mode for a week. This was all at his own expense, as he takes local history seriously,
and good on him! He has kept up a family tradition where his grandfather, father, and now himself have done this sort of thing for the 100th, 150th and 200th anniversaries,
respectively.
