Video editing ?????

Hey guys and gals some of you may have noticed I have been doing a lot of slomo video lately and some have suggested that I need to edit them.

I am using a Sony RX100v that shoots at 960fps.

The only editing I can do is to trim the starting and finishing points.

I also struggle to get good focus, I have learnt to shoot in good light anything less than good light I have to increase the ISO which increases the noise which spoils a good end result.

I really have no idea where to start looking and what editing software or programs to assist me.

Any advice will be appreciated.

YOu didn't tell us what you use to do this trimming. Is it something Sony provides with
that camera?

Just a start with freebies...
For MS WIN 10 (and I think earlier) you can download and install MS Movie Maker. It's
basic.

Others, some that allow conversion between video formats and subtitling are...
Handbrake (AK told me about that one.)
MiniTool Movie Maker (There are some other pretty useful apps in the MiniTool stable.)

There's a host of 'em if you do a search like "free win 10 video editors". But if starting off,
get a good handle on how Win Movie Maker works.

There are lots of paid-for ones, names of a couple that include:
Filmora
Adobe Premiere

Those 2 have a brief free trial period - a week, I think???

They are full-featured and rather like a truck to drive, but I've
only seen them being used. (At the time I had approx 0 interest
in video editing.)

AM I load the vids into the Mac photo storage that is part of Mac and I can edit (trim) them with that, but to the best of my knowledge that’s all you can do.

I’ll have a look at Win Movie Maker, thank you.

Handbrake is good for transcoding(one format to another, or reducing a format to a smaller size).

For Video editing tho, I've found Davinci Resolve is quite good, for a 'total' freebie.
If you need some specific feature it may cost for a plug in to do it, but as a totally free software, it's quite good.

I'm pretty sure there is a Mac version too.

I haven't used it much in that I've made many videos with it, more testing than actual usage to create videos.
I downloaded it to see how it would work with 360° video, but it needs a pay for plugin.
I'll probably get it one day(for my 360 camera) .. but low on the priority list. I need to get back to work first!

If you do try it, it may look a bit overwhelming at first, but the more you fumble around in it, the more sense it will start to make.
ie. try to stick with it.

I used to use Adobe Premier Pro many many years ago, but my copy is a very old one, and new tech out there to do more stuff .. but Resolve is quite familiar to Premier Pro in terms of using it, so I could have a bit of bias in how i understand it.

you have to provide details and register...

But you can also download if from the TechSpot site (very slohhw)
and avoid all that palaver

Appreciate that Arthur I’ll have a look at Davinci Resolve

Having not much experience with video I’m not to sure what I should be editing, I know I can trim start and finish, the first thing I would like to do is crop the sides.
