    What's your dream lens?

    What's your dream lens?

    Mine (and will remain a dream) is the Nikon AF-S 600mm f/4.0 FL ED VR Telephoto Lens at around $17,000 and someone to lug it around for me

    Great lens Gazza, but sometimes....just sometimes don't you hanker for just a little more reach?

    I still have the 100-400mm for out-n-about birding stuff which gets used weekly.
    The 70-200 is magic for the more creative stuff. (It's creative, I just click )

    There's an o-n-g-o-i-n-g rumour that Canon are going to make a basic 200-600mm which would be nice. Not holding me breath for that though.

    I hope they do for you Gazza, the Nikon 200-500mm for the price that Nikon charge for it is a great lens and I've been using it with a 1.4x teleconverter for even a little further reach and getting some shots.

    Micro four thirds 12-100 f/4 (same angle of view as a 135 format 24-200). Really sharp at all FLs and apertures to f/11.

    I saw it. I took half a dozen shots. I bought it ... Love it!

    I'm happy with what I have, but if such a thing existed an 18-300 or 400mm for a Canon would be great, I'd only ever need one lens then.

    SO GLAD to hear this John - I ordered yesterday after months of deliberation. Looking for an all purpose lens for travel. Don’t want to get back to a weighty bag after loving the MFT system.
    Can’t wait for it to arrive.
    Cheers Lyn.

    Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mark II and various lenses.

    I doubt that you will be disappointed, Lyn. I've owned mine for nearly 3 years.

    Still use the minute 14-42 EZ and 12-50 macro though.

    Beautiful transitions from the plane of focus - very smooth.

    Canon EF 11-24 F4L, although I doubt I’ll ever own one.

    Such things exist.

    Tamron have both, and as long as your Canon is EF-S camera, no worries.

    Can't guarantee that either will give you any decent IQ tho.
    I've tested the 18-270mm lens, OK-ish to use, not ideally suited for fine detail stuff at the long end tho.

    Dreamy lens: would love to check out Nikon's impending 50mm f/0.95S (for Z)
    Couple of UV lenses that sell for stratopheric money too(Rayfact/Nikon 105mm f/4.5 and Coastal Optics 60mm f/4)

    Two other lenses that immediately spring to mind as 'dream lenses' would have to be Nikon's 300 f/2 Ais, and their 6mm f/2.8.

    Beardale .. if you want dream telephoto lenses .. the old bazooka ... 1200-1700 f/5.6-8 would have to be it.
    Not only would have to find the lens(impossible) and someone to carry it, you also need to find someone to carry them too!(and someone to manually focus it too, if you don't like manual focus lenses)
    Nikon D800E, D300, D70s
    {Nikon}; -> 50/1.2 : 500/8 : 105/2.8VR Micro : 180/2.8 ais : 105mm f/1.8 ais : 24mm/2 ais
    {Sigma}; ->10-20/4-5.6 : 50/1.4 : 12-24/4.5-5.6II : 150-600mm|S
    {Tamron}; -> 17-50/2.8 : 28-75/2.8 : 70-200/2.8 : 300/2.8 SP MF : 24-70/2.8VC

    I realised that a couple of hours after I posted in the thread I found one online, now just how to justify spending $750 on a camera lens with the Minister of Finance

    That's getting away from bazooka class into artillery class

    There are two on my list
    • Nikon 600 f/4
    • Olympus 300 f/4 (m4/3)

    I'll get there one day, although the Olympus is more likely to happen than the Nikon one....
