Wrapping a photo around a sea urchin

My photography club is involved in a project with our local Printmakers group, where photographers and printmakers pair up to create a combined artwork.

I am paired up with a lady that loves sea urchins, so that is our theme. Hence I am trying to wrap a photo around a picture of sea urchin. Below is my best attempt so far., mainly done using the Warp tool found in Edit > Transform. If anyone has any CC or advice on how to improve this technique, please share. Just had a thought - is there any way to print a photo on a real sea urchin, e.g. like printing a photo on a coffee cup?? Thanks and Cheers, Rex

--And I thought you were turning out lampshades!

Have you looked at the Filter-Distort-Spherize (inter alia) tool?
    CC, Image editing OK.

Thanks Ameerat42, I'll have a go with that tool and see what I can come up with.

Have a look at Bump maps as well. You can create a simple version in photoshop, or more detailed ones in 3D software. There are even online generators (I haven't tried any of these).
Here is a link to help out in Photoshop https://photoshoptrainingchannel.com...-bump-normals/
