I think you just decline the offer of Office 365 or whatever it is and they go away.
Same here for an office suite, Open Office is mine.

Bianca, I was accidentally right. This occurred when the computer was new and had
Win 8. Declined it, installed OO, and have not seen it since.
    CC, Image editing OK.

But you know most people don't bother or don't understand what it is they're reading. They are encouraged to accept the defaults for everything. I do not include myself there, though - I used to work on a User Help Desk supporting many hundreds of people, so I know to read what's on the screen!

You're probably right about being pre-packaged on the PCs you buy that have everything pre-installed - all those defaults in Windows would have been accepted when the system was set up.

I have to use MS Office for a couple of clients I occasionally do stuff for, for which I'm still running the 2007 version. For personal use and other clients where I can, I find Google Docs and Sheets quite sufficient. I did have a look at Libre Office many years ago, as well as OpenOffice, and they would have been perfectly suitable for straightforward type of work. Not so good when you were programming in VBA and doing complex macros.

    Ah. Interesting.

I'll have to keep that in mind for when/if I upgrade.

I read this a couple of days ago, too. Would've been a pain for a lot of users. And I wonder how many users just went along with it and 'downgraded' their installation...

    Am, thanks for the links.

While I have no intention of changing from Win 7 Pro x64 (I have 4x licences), I have downloaded the ISO installation file for Windows 10, and burned it to DVD.

MS have become totally capricious WRT maintaining information on their web sites. What would it cost them in storage space to merely retain existing support and service information for their own operating systems?
FCOL, even I have unlimited SSD storage on my own web site ... nuff said!!

    Am

I just upgraded Kezza's win 7 to Win 10 about 3 days ago. It's working fine on her low spec machine.
My windows rig has had Win 10 for as long as it has been down-loadable and have never looked back.
It is the best Windows system as Rick stated earlier.
I am more than happy with it ,(and my Big Mac of course too).

    ps and still free too.

    cheers
