    A Q Relating to Win 10

    Guys...

Have a look at the pic below. It shows part of the Win 10 task bar.
There is a little flag (1) on the MS Mail icon. I got a message from
someone in my live.com.au mail account. I usually use Outlook to
check this mail account. However, having opened the memo in both
Outlook and MS Mail, I cannot clear this flag. There are no other
    messages there.

In addition, I have combed and checked and unchecked lots of settings
everywhere - to no avail! Any ideas, please?

Flag Waving in Win 10 MS Mail...

Have you checked for un-finished drafts, un-read mail in the trash and other assorted 'uns'? (Of course you would've...)

Have you tried deleting the item from LIVE.COM web site using webmail?

Telstra contracted out their email servers to MS for about 5 years. However, they got so many complaints (including a number from me ... ), that they now host them directly themselves once again.

MS and GMAIL mail servers are both tragically slow.

    Gazza, yes.
JK, there doesn't appear to be a live.com webmail site as such anymore. It comes through outlook or mail

These people said (3 years ago now!) that I'm not to blame.
So I unpinned the stupefactory (it was driving me to stupefaction ) icon
from the task bar and left it off after fist re-pinning it with no effect.

Am, what I'm saying is don't use your desktop client to access your email (just for this time). Use your browser to access your webmail account directly. Clear the offending inbox manually, then mark the email as read using your desktop client.

If this doesn't work, contact MS support and give them permission to purge the offending Inbox.

There is no "live" mail client, so do you mean use Outlook to do so?
I did that yesterday, through the same link you gave me, and again a few minutes ago.
I checked all folders for unread msgs, but there were none.

I might call MS about it later, but I noticed one drawback along the way: yesterday I
emptied the trash folder"/ but I see an option there to do a "restore".
What?!! - Who'd want to do that? I wanted them cleared/purged/deleted/etc.

No. Use your web browser to go directly to your webmail page (URL above). Login directly via this web page. Delete anything in there.

Open your desktop client and perform a send/receive.

This should kill off the rogue item in your task bar.

    JK. Pls see below...

    1. From Outlook logging into my Live account
    outlook.jpg

    2. From Desktop Mail client, after a refresh
    desktopLIve.jpg

    Mail icon now unpinned again.

For my next trick I will try to delete that msg with the pointer.
(Or stuff it in a bottle, put a cork in it, and toss it into the sea )

Try clicking on that arrow so that it opens the sub-folder. See what you find - the Red Queen or the Mad Hatter ...

I got an email from MS recently about closing my OneDrive account as I had never used it. Could it be something similar to this??

I did. - Nothing but the two "History" messages that precede this one. - I became the Mad Hatter at it

On your Q2, I dunno. I have a "ticket" in with MS asking if/why they had reduced my OneDrive storage from 25GB to 15GB.
They're going to [get back to me]
