Ps CC select and mask crash

I use the quick selection tool, make a selection, (not on BG). go to Layer>layer mask, and get crash.
Internet advice edit.preferences.advanced, uncheck "Use Open CL", whatever that means does not work.
Does anyone else have this problem and a fix?

Marty - "Open GL" is some type of Graphics Card Function.

Some of my Astronomy Applications for Planetarium Charting have an Option in their Preferences to Disable "Open GL" as it seems to cause problems in certain environments.

    Cheers

Dennis thanks for this info, disabling "Open GL" should have no downside for me. My problem is recent and must be rare. A Ps CC update just finished has not helped, so I shall uninstall and download and hope.

Good luck Marty, the hobby can be challenging enough without these additional tricky problems landing in our laps as well.

    Cheers
