I usually just use the basic camera app, but if you want to shoot raw and dicker with your photo, Lightroom has plenty of functionality.

Just want to say a thanks for this thread, and the links. I downloaded three of the four free ones from that first link today, so I’ll check them out and let you know if I have anything interesting to add, which is unlikely, lol.

I didn’t download one which was aimed at improving selfies or some such rubbish, but I downloaded VSCO, MuseCam and Moment. Just had a quick look at all three tonight and they all allegedly shoot in RAW. At a glance, MuseCam seems to have the most options, including white balance, ISO, aperture, shutter speed etc. Could be interesting with a bit of a play around. VSCO and Moment don’t seem to have options quite as advanced, but the fact that they all allegedly shoot in RAW is very interesting.

Thanks for the link. Just downloaded the ProCamera app and it is pretty good. I have an iPhone 6 so I just miss out on raw capability (iPhone 6s required). That said, it will still shoot in TIF and gives some great flexibility in terms of adjusting shutter speed, ISO and allowing you to focus on one area and expose for another. You can't adjust the aperture though so the iPhone will still be a poor cousin to the DSLR for me. Handy app though.

Ah, okay, that makes sense and explains why the alleged RAW photos I was allegedly taking were not RAW files when I transferred them across to the laptop.

Oops, didn’t realise there’s a thread on best App and I accidentally posted in the phone features thread instead. Admins, feel free to move my post if you like.
Anyways, LightningCam got me my best smartphone image to date. Image posted in the other thread.

I also think Snapseed is pretty good.
And I use Feedly daily to get my dose of news from the various sites I frequent.

I did some research and recently purchased ProCamera, CortexCam and Slow Shutter for my iPhone X. Compared to the cost of a new lens, or even a monthly subscription to PS and LR, it was very cheap.

ProCamera gives me control over shutter speed, ISO, exposure compensation, white balance and a host of other features. CortexCam will allow me to take photos in low light, by taking multiple photos, stacking them and using software (similar to Median in PS?) to use these to eliminate (ok, reduce) noise. Slow Shutter gives me the option to capture Motion Blur, Light Trails and to take single long exposure photos (30 sec or longer) by being able to choose ISO and shutter speed.

Part of the reason I did this is I broke my radius near my wrist and I am not supposed to lift anything heavier than a coffee cup. So my iPhone is my camera of choice for now.

    Cheers, Rex
