Unsplash - Good idea, bad idea - what do people think of it?

I've just come across Unsplash, a photo sharing site where zillions of people put up their photos to be released into the wild, free for anyone to download or even use commercially.

My first reaction was urk! Why are people giving away all their rights!!

However, it seems to be hugely popular and used by photographers to create a name for themselves. The site produces statistics showing how many people look at and download your images, and as a source of royalty free images it looks pretty good.

What do others think? Have you seen it before? Used it?

Thanks Bob...I've found them occasionally useful.
I joined up with a similar site, 'Pixabay' some time ago after it was mentioned here on AP. Comes in handy for the members 'Rework Image Challenge'

Unsplash will give me another resource now -

Well, I understand why people do it. Everyone has thousands of photos, which do nothing. Why not give them another life? Others build a name. Others are depressed that nothing seems to work for them and such a possibility would make them feel better. I have a bunch of photos on pixabay and even got $1 donation from someone lol, but I don't feel like submitting all of my keepers to such sites. I would send if the usage was "with attribution" but not on CC0.
Some people put a paypal.me links in their profiles, but I doubt it works.
