So in their conditions of entry, "The removal, alteration, addition or relocation of elements within the image is not
allowed."
How would they know I took out the stick at top right?

Perhaps they insist on you providing the RAW file? I've had publishers do that.

Yes it's not uncommon to have to provide the raw file. I don't think this comp is anything too major or in the big league like National Geographic or World Wildlife Photo . Maybe they just expect people to follow the spirit of the comp and be honest.
