    When Labour was Cheap

This mortised, post and rail fence would have to be a survivor of weather and fires for well over 100 years. In those days labour was cheap and materials expensive, so land was cleared, and the fallen timber was sawn and split to make the fences. The only cost was sweat. Photo taken at Ben Lomond near Glen Innes, in 2012, Sony compact DSC-HX1

I like what you have done with this compositionally, Marty. Usually with similar subjects (I love an old fence, especially when there is a Black Falcon sitting on it) I try to blur out the background. Here you have decided to use it in a creative way. I must bear that in mind for my own use another day.

It's a poor sort of memory that only works backwards.

Nice, pleasing image, Marty. I do like a good fence.

I wonder with that white sky if it might be worth just brushing in the colour of the sky from another photo you took on the day? If you didn't want to bother with the whole sky replacement thing...

That's not the point of Marty's POST.

Oh dear. Apologies all. Got so used to most posts being in the CC forums I missed this one not being there.

Tony I saw it as a landscape with a large bit of foreground interest.
    Thanks for the thought.

Geoff I thought of that, then looked at the over exposed grass, and thought that as the fence was interesting, to put it where readily seen.
    cheers marty.
