But certainly the likes of this phone shown here.

It runs on the 2G network, and I got a letter from OPTUS the other day telling us that
the 2G network will be CLOSED DOWN soon.

(I suppose it applies to all carriers...)

The dates they gave were:
For WA and the NT: 3 April 2017
For the rest: 1 August 2017.

So I did some checking of what my phones run on using the GSM Arena site (in link above)
and found we had some old handsets (no longer used) that will no longer work then.

Put in your phone details and check the "Network - Technology" info as shown below.
(If it only lists "2G" and not 3G or 4G, then your phone will not work later.)

For my (good) old Nokia 6300...
