    Stolen from Townsville

Help,,,,, i just got up to find much of my camera and astronomy gear stolen.
All my macro gear including microscope objectives macro lenses etc.
    All my Telescope eyepieces.
    Countless adapters & camera gear.
Benro carbon fibre tripod with a Really Right stuff ball head
    G-Star camera.
    PoleMaster camera and mount
4 cases like in the photo if anyone sees one for sale.
All the gear taken was photography and astronomy gear so it can only be used for that or sold.
Please help, i am in a state of shock.

    Bugger!
If you replace the 'W' with 'T' in When, Where and What, you get the answer for each question.
CC more than welcome. Remember, I can't be offended so go for it. Feel free to post your ideas with an edit if you have time. Thanks in advance.

Is that all they took? If so, think about the people who know you, know where you live, and know you had that gear.

Also watch gumtree.. often stolen stuff appears on there.

    What Rick said.

If it was mainly camera and astro gear taken it would seem like a targeted break-in. As well as Gumtree keep a watch on eBay.

I hate low-life thieves with a passion. Hope you were insured.

Ok he was seen by my neighbour at approx 4.15 to 4.30 am
Tall with black clothes possibly a hat driving a SUV type vehicle.
Possibly a Dodge or Chrysler or BMW but doesn't think it was a Jeep and had a large chrome grill.
He parked in front of the other neighbours house and made a few trips out to his car to take all the cases and draws out.
He put some in the front passenger side and walked around the back and hopped in and casually drove away.

Townsville's not a huge market. We should all help by looking at our local Gumtree sites in the capital cities.

Yes, it sounds like someone knew you had this gear. I so hope you'll be able to get it back!, and karma will sh*t on the Prick who took it!
Axle, also try any pawn shops, Cash Converters shops, and look out in the For Sale sections in adverts in the local Newspapers or Trade magazines. It may be worth a look at items for sale on www.tradingpost.com too, you just never know.

Sounds like not just someone you know, but someone who knew what he was looking for.. and where you kept it in your house. Otherwise he would have gone into other rooms. Opened drawers, cupboards etc.

Have you been anywhere lately with some of your gear and had someone talking to you about it, that you have may have said about other gear at home etc?

Yeah mate so many thoughts and questions going through my head today, the police were here for about 3 hours this morning finger printing and photographing etc.

The gear taken is specialised gear, like the macro gear, microscope objectives mounted on Nikon lenses,,,,microscope objectives on extension tubes on Sony mounts etc.
I would recognise everything as I put a lit of time into building my gear.
    Some stuff below

Bento carbon fibre tripod with a Really Right Stuff B55 ball head
GSTAR-EX3 - Colour USB3 Camera with a ADM universal mount and there are only a few in Australia
    PoleMaster guide camera
    Televue 5x powermate
    Televue 12mm Nagler
    Televue 3-6 Nagler zoom
    Denkmeier 21mm eyepiece
    EXPLORE SCIENTIFIC 30MM 82º 2" eyepiece
    And a lot lot more.

This is a very specialised field. I know someone in the Astro photography field. I'll drop him an email with a copy of your list, as he is not on this forum. If you have any more details/photos just add them to this thread and I'll pass them on.

If you participate in other macro / astro sites and forums, I assume you have already informed them. It may be worth googling for every astro forum you can find, joining up and letting them know. I'm not into facebook, but I'd make sure the list was plastered everywhere I could think of on facebook.

It is not just the loss of the equipment, it is the feeling of being violated that hurts so much. We'll all cross our fingers, keep an eye out and hope for the best. It is great that the police have a description and details to go on with. That will probably make them keen to hunt the burglar down.

    All the best.

Wow, what a terrible experience. If only this gear was stolen it does appear that somebody knew you had it and only went after that. Hope you get it back and the police catch the low life that did it.

Not really that much I can say that helps, so I didn't say that.

Keep searching the above suggested places but I'd think if it was a targeted theft then they either the have other avenues of disposing of the goods or they just want it for themselves (check the local camera club?)

The police are the go in the end.
Good luck with it all. I'm hoping some scum-bag gets sprung.

The police will already (know) have a good idea who this low life is. They just have to catch him red handed. Unfortunately your gear might be gone already. Let's hope I'm wrong. As said spread the word on Facebook for a quick out there exposure.
    Cheers Brian.
