    Spammers

    Hi everyone,

With the festive season just around the corner, we (the mods team) have had to be a bit more active than usual against spammers registering on the site. They tend to be more active at this time of the year. If you do see a post from someone that is obviously spamming, please feel free to report the post/thread and we will act on it as quickly as we can.

As a bit of background, Ausphotography is a member of a global anti-spamming organisation. If we ban someone for spam, their details go onto a global register, and the email address used for the account is then locked from being used on thousands of sites worldwide. Similarly if someone tries to join on Ausphotography, we check their email address against this register, and if the email exists on the database, they are refused registration on AP. We do a lot of work behind the scenes to ensure AP remains as spam free as possible. For example, between 9.00am and 11.00am today, we automatically blocked 11 registrations due to them being on the anti-spam register.

So if one or two get past our defences, please feel free to report them and we will act on your reports, thanks!

Speaking of SPAM(mers) as an aside, I still get a dozen or so spam emails a day purporting to be from
FedEx, Gmail, Whatsapp. They are obviusly from anyone but, and mousing over the sender's name shows
whacko types. -- What an OLD ploy! I guess they must be old BOTS still plugging away

As another unrelated aside about spammers, I couldn't send any emails the other day. When I googled the Outlook error message it turned out that my IP address had been wrongly identified as sending spam (or maybe spammers were using it? Who knows?). A hard reset of the modem fixed it pretty easily though.

From a work related viewpoint, M$ and their emails (outlook/live/hotmail, etc) are probably the most aggressive at blocking emails. We often find patients cannot contact us, or us them, and its due to m$ policy. Even here on AP, we have had to deal several times with M$ blocking AP emails so people registering could not get their registration confirmation email, and more. It is good that the email providers are working to block spam, but sometimes they need to be a little less aggressive at doing so. It's funny how the viagra, sex, etc emails still get through, but genuine emails get blocked by their policy. At one point the entire Tas Govt was blocked from emailing hotmail addresses and it took the government about 3 months to get M$ to fix it. At another time the S.Aus and W.Aus governments had the same issues with them too.

Doesn't that have something to do with your search history? (()) (I'm asking for a friend?)....You should've entered the 'Fetish' weekly challenge

If you replace the 'W' with 'T' in When, Where and What, you get the answer for each question.
CC more than welcome. Remember, I can't be offended so go for it. Feel free to post your ideas with an edit if you have time. Thanks in advance.
