A watchful green tree snake.

Was near a creek hoping for some bird shots, when l noticed this tree snake foraging for stuff on a tree, less than 3 meters away. l didn't want to frighten it by moving, and had my 300mm on, so only got a section of him, when in an instant, it launched itself into the air, straight to the ground, when something small fell into the rockpool next to us, and l think it was hoping it was a critter of some kind to eat. It raised its head up eagerly with some sideways motion,showing it was ready to pounce. Unfortunately it was a false alarm, and it left after a minute or so of intense scrutiny

Last Sunday I was walking on the paved path to the tank as I wanted to water all the pots of flowers faster than with the small watering can.
And who should decide to slither along with me, only a young Eastern Brown about 1.2mts long I watched it till it disappeared in the dead leaves.
Seen a few of these snakes in the garden over the years though I have never been that close to one before. Fascinated I was.

Great job in capturing these quick moments of action. The snake climbing the tree is a cracker and I like the heads up display in #2.

I like Mary Anne's story.
Last summer I was out looking for birds when an Eastern Brown appeared to my left. It was on clear ground and heading straight towards me. To late to run, just stand still and hope I thought. The snake kept coming and about a metre away, and as I was about to panic, it slid down a hole ( I was happy about that ).

A very pretty snake and he looks great against the tree texture. There's been a few serious snake bites around coastal CQ already this season.

Well posted Feathers, have not seen one in suburbia for years. Brings back memories of them climbing almost smooth trees.

Thanks Lplates & Marty see them every so often around the yard in the bushes. Hopefully the bush turkeys keep the dangerous ones at bay.
