Highly Recommend NOT falling over ..

    Hi All
just have to tell you a funny story.. not funny at the time but the comment I made during the commotion....
you know you are a photographer WHEN>.......

After starting annual leave and having a day of sorting massive amount of old filing out.. burning it .. old warrenty things etc
feeling rather proud .. i have set most the keeping items back in place and my desk all tidy...
as I went to get something I tripped over my photo prop box I had set up.. trying to correct myself only added to the momentum and inertia and went HEAD first in to my heavy wooden desk.
I was face down on the carpet groaning when my hubby came through.. after a while of not wanting to move i realised that my head had the biggest lump on it and i thought i was going to die, and thought my wrist was broken not to mention other injuries.. ( not so in the end)

all i could say was "I HAVE TO BE ABLE TO HOLD MY CAMERA"
    what a dork

Along with the mild concussion I have two very black eyes where the blood leaked down, a sore but only bruised thumb/wrist where i tried to save myself. incredibly sore but only bruised knees and a bruised shin from the box...
my kids and hubby are calling me Jeanie WuNi panda or Racoon lovely hey

I still did a family shoot on sunday morning but fell appart after... concussions still present

    SO HIGHLY RECOMMEND NO FALLING

Constructive Critique and editing of my images is welcome and appreciated.

Sorry for smiling as I type this...was there Chardonnay involved?
If you replace the 'W' with 'T' in When, Where and What, you get the answer for each question.
CC more than welcome. Remember, I can't be offended so go for it. Feel free to post your ideas with an edit if you have time. Thanks in advance.

No Gazza I was gravely disappointed as champayne was awaiting my daughter's and my attention to celebrate her getting her Teaching papers through and licence to teach... I did it an hour too early .. and alcohol and concussion are not a good mix
thank you and i don't mind you smiling .. i would be rolling on the floor laughing... oh i was on the floor LOL

nothing permanent now the concussion has lifted.
just my pride and a few bruises
I should refine my ungraceful falling skills too

Wow - glad you are ok (relatively speaking) and nice to know you have your priorities right .. re photography! Amazing how quickly family come up with nicknames for you after such mishaps - part of the relief in knowing you survived I suppose. All the best for a quick and full recovery!

Glad it wasn't more serious and you're now on the mend and of course doubly glad your wrist is not broken and you can still hold your camera.

Jeanette, good to hear there's no permanent damage, and you can actually laugh about the incident. Hope you'll be as good as new in no time.
I think what you displayed there is a chronic (and incurable) photographer's reflex, i.e. prioritizing the gear (or the shot) over your own safety
Reminded me of a time when were chased by a family of geese in the park, a friend came back for me, and I readily handed over my gear and asked to get it to safety

Sorry about your fall. Look on the bright side ... you didn't have your camera in your hand at the time! I fell and broke my leg but saved the camera ... I mended but the camera could have been a write-off!
    Get well soon.

Sorry to hear that Jeanette . Glad to hear that there has been no more serious damage.

Falling becomes more and more dangerous to us as we get older. Keep a close eye on that 'mild' concussion! No such thing, IMNSHO ...
