Lens reviews .. and forums. Why you shouldn't trust them!

.. and here is the reasoning from the man who (usually) knows more than most.

Roger Cicala(from Lens Rental) parallels lens review sites

    A humorous summary.

LOL! on his take of 'our fave' .. Ken Rockwell!

I guess that I, like most of you, read a lot of reviews and forums, looking for oft mentioned attributes and faults, before making a decision.

Unfortunately, living out of town with a 200k round trip to the big smoke, I don't have the luxury of a quick visit to my local B&M store to actually try the object of my desires.
    Cheers

I think there are many examples of this including people taking photography writers as gospel. The recent example I saw was a lens review from the angry photographer of the 105 f/1.4 which he didn't have in his hand. He was complaining about the number of pieces of glass in the lens and his entire premise was that more glass=poor lens. This logic doesn't explain the apparent miracle that Sigma produced with the 50 ART which almost matches the Zeiss and has a large number of elements. Sigms must have Chuck Norris or Jesus on their design team.
