    Canon 40D Accessories

In the process of getting back into shooting again and am wondering about a couple toys to play around with.

Was looking on eBay for a couple cheap bits and pieces, mainly a shutter remote and tripod, came across a softbox as well.

Camera is an Canon EOS 40D, also have a Canon Speedlite 430EX, the Speedlite has a diffuser to fit over it, a hard cover one, plastic, but was wondering about these cheap little toys as well to play with.

Any feedback on these would be great, thanks, or suggestions at all?

New car should be a week or two away, so have plenty of time to grab what I think I might need.

I'm not a gear head so don't much know. Would recommend your second link art this stage.

Link #1 I do have a couple of those soft plastic diffusers I did not find them much help and only use them occasionally on my Olympus m4/3 flash now. I bought them originally to use on my Canon Twinlite flash as I used to shoot a lot of Macro they kept falling off regardless of what I used to keep them on so I then went for the hard plastic diffusers..

Link #2 Bought a similar remote shutter release it did not last one year I spent more money on batteries trying to get the thing going than I did on the Unit.

Link #3 sorry cannot help with that item. Or the one on Link #4..

The first two items are cheap enough so you wont be loosing much if you do buy them and they don't last long.

I shoot with Olympus Cameras.. Sometimes Canon and My iPhone SE 2020

Thanks all, went a head and bought the shutter remote, thought it would come in more than handy seeing I'd prefer not to touch the camera when taking photos in long exposure due to shake, also grabbed a cheap tripod as well, cheers.

Oh, plus I already have the hard plastic diffuser, just couldn't think of what to call it though, ha.

I wonder if fitting the diffuser over a normal torch light would come in handy when doing 'light painting'?

i have one of those remotes and its still going strong...as for the tripod/mono pod i would consider saving your pennies and getting something that's a lot more sturdy/reliable, a good tripod is worth is weight in gold and will be with you for many years. if price is an issue take a look at the Benro range, they are well built ,strong and come in at a decent price. good luck
    long live
