    A New Nannification From Yahoo7

The LATEST in the order of Annoyances from Yahoo(7) is the foisted movie clips that pop up
when you empty either Trash or Spam.

Before that was the stupefying Gmail-like log-in, and even before that came the distastefully
    defaulted "Stay logged in".

Here's a pic of the Clips (which had me doing all sorts of checks and scans the 1st time)
    Yahoo-now.jpg

I wonder if there's a setting to get riddovvit?
    CC, Image editing OK.

I've not noticed Google login being a big issue. I just stay logged in via my mail app. If I use chrome it recognizes me and my google account (maps, mail etc) is all available. This is on a private computer though, if you have to log in each time that could be a pain.
But clips when you empty a folder .......that's madness.
I avoid yahoo because they seem to exemplify the lowest common denominator in media and the Internet.

That's right. What they class as "news" on the Yahoo7 site after logging out of mail is drivel at
best. This one today, at least, had some "newsworthy" traction. That was probably due to
    someone's drunkenness

I am not actually sure what exactly this yahoo thing that you talk of is.
I guess the obvious answer to your problems is to delete anything associated with such drivel from your computer.

Now, unfortunately, when you empty the trash or spam folders of the browser version of Yahoo Mail,
you are REGALED with some random "news" video clip. I thought it was malware
at first. Now I wish it (just) was.

Agree it's a pain. Close widow, move on? You don't have to look. How to stop it, I'd be interested. Close widow, move on?
Another thing. Is it right that to link photos here via flickr you have to maintain a Yahoo email? Close tab, move on.

That exactifically what I was doing when the video pooped up. Immediate close the 1st time and
an extensive check for malware - none found. 2nd time I figgered it was an ad by Yahoo. A few just close
window, and today, found setting to disable.

Ever so helpfully on their part, Yahoo7 had set it to be ON. Guess what? It is now set to NOT ON.
    (Or is that "pop-out", "pop-up"?....)

    OK, here's how...
    When in the Trash folder window, click on the Settings (gear wheel) icon;
Go to "About our Ads", which opens a Privacy Policy page.
At the top, on the Right side there is a box labelled "Highlights".
Select the "Opt Out" shown there.
Another window opens with the status of your selection, like:
    "Interest-based ads:
    Are currently off."
Click the button to change, AND for good measure, go and UNtick all the
ad categories. Make sure you select "More" to display hidden ones.
    SAVE and exit.
