    my SIGMA 50-500 F4.5-6.3 DG OS CAME TODAY

    NOW first things first, how do I get it off the floor. I was not expecting it to be soooooo big
    I have been taking photos for 50 years. I am now trying to get into Photography

    Congs. Now check it out carefully.

    It only Locks/Unlocks with zoom fully in - at f=50mm. If lens is pointing downwards the zoom will tend to creep.

    Look through the lens from both ends and make sure it does not have an fungal or other blemishes on the surfaces.
    Set the OS to position 1. It will only engage when you press/half press the shutter.
    On pos 2 it is always on, and uses up more power.
    Check the working of the AF.

    PS To lock/unlock, you sometimes have to "wiggle" the zoom ring a little.
    (I don't know which colour WIggle)

    Wait till you're out in the bush with it for a few minutes!.

    You reckon you have knee issues now ... They ain't nothing! .... compared to what you're about to experience
    (And there's no excuse for not getting some upper body fitness now )

    TG. The body fitness is a "myff". - Just look at me
    OTOH, you'll get used to it in NO time. To boot, it's a well-balanced lens.
