    Shutter Dragging

    Hi All,

Just need some tips on shutter dragging techniques and what to do.

I have a shoot coming up which involves late afternoon into evening shots of a motobike and i want to use the shutter drag technique into the shot to highlight the landscape behind. But also to introduce some cool 'ghostly' images of people around the bike at the same time.

Would shutter dragging be the best technique here or will I be better off using a lightbox and long exposure instead?
    Cheers
    Shav

Hmm! I haven't done "dragging" (I didn't know it was called that...) Oh, maybe 1nce or 2ice, but a long time ago.
I have done some ordinary flash/ambient background balance, but again, a while ago. I think it helps if the subject
to be illuminated by flash is in silhouette in relation to the background. Measure the background exposure value,
then fill flash on a long exposure time, like about 1 or 2 sec.
    CC, Image editing OK.

I might practice this technique first beforehand.

It would be good to see some of the results of your practising, SB.
Of course, any finished results as well.
