    Take a selfie - Kill a dolphin

    This makes me angry: http://www.bbc.com/news/world-latin-america-35606354

I understand the curiosity and interest something so cute could generate, but FFS why take it out of the water in the first place?

Sure, the idea is indiscriminant and unreasoned, but that link is a cautionary article. The only reference
    to the headline is:
" Beach-goers in Argentina have been criticised after reportedly taking endangered dolphins from the sea to take selfies.
Pictures posted on social media show a crowd of people holding and touching a dolphin in the city of Santa Teresita."

Even what the photo depicts is uncertain.

I think a more specific link would be helpful as an illustration of an actual event.

Most normal folks reaction, after seeing it, would have been to call the local appropriate authority/animal welfare group to come immediately whilst helping the poor dolphin IN THE WATER!!

If there were natural land dwelling animals, they'd come out onto beaches of their own accord .. you don't pull it out of the water and leave it on the beach!

I know nothing of marine life and know this simple point.

Just few unconscionable types from that species does it for me.

From Grants link, "It is not clear if the dolphin was alive or already dead." that's before it was taken out of the water.
In the video in AK's first link the dolphin doesn't seem to be moving much.

So if what social media is saying is correct and a dolphin died for the sake of selfies, I'd not be surprised.
If however it was the 24second news cycle and social media going viral without the right facts to start with, I'd be less surprised.
And main stream media will publish what goes viral before checking the fact.

Indeed and if they EVER print a retraction it will be well hidden....

Ban selfies and the world in general (and facebook in particular) would be a better place!
