    Welding Glass ND Filter

    Hi Guys,

Just wondering if anyone has any experience with welding glass as an ND filter. I have been reading around online that it seems to be a very cost effective alternative, just wanting peoples opinions on it.

    Cheers,

    S.

There's been discussion in the past.
From memory, color cast and optical quality (it's usually quite un-flat) were the main issues.
Also, there were a couple of different grades, both in oxy-welding goggles and in arc/mig/tig ones.

Oh, that's not to say it's counted out.

    An interesting idea

I watched wire melting through those for years (a welder in a past life), it's not going to cost
ya much to have a play, bit of duct tape/bluetack and you're laughing -

    Cheers ...
