Christmas Present to AP members : Image size increases

    Hi all,

As discussed in site matters about 2 months ago, we looked at increasing the image sizes allowed on the site.

from NOW...our Christmas Present to you

    Maximum file-size is : 400kb (409600bytes)
Maximum image pixel width is : 1200 pixels
Maximum image pixel height is : 1200 pixels

Note that these are new maximum limits. You can post smaller if you want to. You do not have to use the maximum if you do not want to.

This applies to images uploaded directly to AP, either in the forums or the gallery. There as been no change to linked images (from flickr etc) as these have always been at whatever size members want to link them as.

All current competitions on the site that START or have started, before the HostGeek photo of the month for January, will remain at the 1024 pixels and 250kb. The HostGeek photo of the month for January and all competitions that start after that will also be at 1200 pixels and 400kb maximum for entries.

I hope that the new limits allow better image quality and thus makes judging/critiquing even more interesting for members.

The only way you can do a pano at larger than the site settings is to link it in from Flickr etc. The settings are site wide. We have no way of specifically setting something different for one forum, alone, in relation to image sizes. As such, linked images do not have size restrictions so you can post whatever size you want.

It shows the double standards. When a woman is naughty, she gets rewarded, when I am naughty, I get punished

So what are you asking for exactly? An old grey bearded man in a red suit to punish you? Hmmmm. Whatever floats your boat

Argh, I know it's a photography website but there was no reason to give me a horrible mental image like that which will probably require extensively therapy to erase.
