Hi all, an update to my recent posting of a problem with my 2011 macbook pro. i picked it up from A to Z computers a couple of days ago and reloaded from time machine and alls good. It seems the problem was a logic board (motherboard) and not software related, apparently there has been a problem with some solder joints failing under heat in the late 2011 15" macbooks and apple agreed to replace it free of charge
