    posting photos on forum

Hi people, I am new to the forum and really technologically challenged. I do not know how to post photos using a "URL". I only have photos on my computer but I get the idea I need to have my photos stored somewhere on a web site in order to post photos here. Can someone point me in the right direction and also advise some off site sites that are trustworthy and simple to use. Thanks in advance for any assistance in this area. And sorry if I have posted this in the wrong area.

No. Not at all! You can upload them direct to AP.
You need to read (and try) this about attaching pictures to your posts:

Go to the link Library - How Do I - 2. How to Post and Link...

Read the first few lines about size limitations for attaching pics to your posts on AP.

Now scroll down to the section "Attaching photos by uploading them to Ausphotography"
IGNORE the FIRST picture shown in that section, and INSTEAD, click on "Go Advanced" in your post.

And then follow the rest of the instructions in that section.

    ***

But if you want a hosting site for your pictures, try Flickr, PhotoBucket, SmugMug,... etc...
(My preference is for Flickr, but others may differ.)

If you like, use The Test Zone to experiment. People can give you help on posting there without (supposedly)
giving you CC on the pics themselves. It's rather clumsy getting CC and posting advice in a normal CC thread.

Afterwards, you can delete the pictures from the Test Zone thread you made.

using a URL will only lead to a link to the photo. You need to embed a ULR inside am IMG tag. Got to Library on the main menu, then into the HOW DO I section and there are several tutorials in there on either uploading and using AP as the storage space for your photo, or using sites like flickr and photobucket.

If you read through those, then use the test zone forum to try them out, and we can help you in the test zone and give advice till you get it happening. The test zone forum is accessible from the FORUMS menu and is the last forum in the top form group (just before the critique forums section).

    hope that helps

Rick. What a change. I'm usually the 1 who gets walloped!

Cricket. Take your time with finding a hosting site. Make sure the T&Cs are not against you. (Ie, have a good read of them.)
I was sailing along for a few years with (what's now) OneDrive. Recently, I could not make their images stick on here. The image
URLs changed. I gave up, and now just attach.
