    Upgrading Lenses

I have a Canon 70D. The lenses I have are Tamron 70-300, Tamron 60 Macro, Canon 10-18, Canon 50 and a Canon 18-130. I use the 18-130 as my walkaround lens but I find that the sharpness is lacking. I am looking for an upgrade as a walkaround lens in the $1500 budget range. I favoured the 24-70 Tamron or the 24-110 Canon but think the focal range may be too compromised on a crop sensor camera. Any suggestions would be most welcome.

The Tamron 24-70 f2.8 VC, 38-112mm on your 70D, would be ideal, and stick your Canon 10-18 in your pocket as a wide back-up.

You guys have convinced me. The Tamron 24-70 it is!!! Great idea to keep the Canon 10-18 in my pocket to cover most walkaround situations. Thanks Cage and nixworries.

Have you checked out the Sigma ART 24-105?

Have you considered the Canon EF-S 15-85mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM http://www.the-digital-picture.com/R...ns-Review.aspx

Carrying a wide around kind of defeats the purpose of a walk around lens don't you think.

That sure is an impressive lens. Seems like you sacrifice one stop of light for marginally sharper results. Certainly worth considering and I will be doing my homework on that one. It was on my shortlist but the 2.8 of the Tamron swayed me towards that lens. I will keep researching for a while.

Hello Dug. Good suggestion but I intend to upgrade to a full frame in the next year or two and would find it a bit of waste to spend that much on a lens that I may not use after upgrading. I don't enjoy carrying extra lenses around and have circumvented the problem by carrying two cameras. A little unwieldy but two cameras cover most requirements and I don't have the change lenses on the fly. I'd rather carry two cameras than two lenses!
