No you can't change your own experience level down, members can only move their experience level up. You joined in 2011, as a beginner, won a comp and we upgraded you to intermediate and now with all people returning from inactive (you have been inactive 6 times since 2013), since we announced the udesign comp, we are upgrading those that return, to the next level. We are assuming that whilst you were away you from the site you continued to learn. So thus you are advanced level now.

We are not willing to move people down a level at this time as it could give them unfair advantage in the udesign competition.

G'day Jess, I wouldn't worry about it to much.
It only really affects two things.
The level you have to enter photos in comps. Sometimes I think the Intermediate comps have better photos than the advanced.
The other thing it affects is when commenting on something. Some members may think we know more than we do with that Advance as skill level. But since I got upgraded I've spent considerable time (and many comments and photos) demonstrating that how false that is.

    Sorry Mudgorians, couldn't resist.
As for moving on up Jess, take it as a compliment.

A while back my folks wanted a budgie. So I got a young one and calmed it down and started saying "budgie from Mudgee' over and over.
They loved it when the bird would sit on their shoulder and start saying "budgie from Mudgee." True story.

How's it going Jess. Feeling any more Advanced yet.

Don't worry Jess, you'll be in good company with Mark L That must make Mudgee the Advanced photography capital of NSW.

Think I'll just keep a low profile Wouldn't want to let the side down.

Oh and sort of back on track. We have upgraded fairly much every member who returned from inactive in the last couple of weeks (unless they were already advanced)

Sorry, but at this time we will not be putting anyone back down a level who was upgraded. If you feel you are not to advanced level, then you have almost 12 months to improve to get your entries in for the udesign competition.
