Sigma 17-50mm f/2.8 EX DC OS HSM

Has anyone had any experience with this lens?
Anyone with an opinion on it?

Looking to fill a gap between the 20mm and 50mm range, and I'm unfortunately on quite a budget. (The budget being whatever my Old Sigma 150-500mm f/5.0-6.3 DG HSM APO OS AF sells for)

In a perfect world, I will be able to afford the 24-70 2.8, but I'm not holding my breath

    Which camera?

The reason for the question is that this lens is for APS-C lenses only!
It won't cover the full frame (135) format cameras.

I have no experience with the lens, but they are supposed to be very good.
I have a Tamron 17-50/2.8, and that was a great lens(other than for bokeh), but many people(and reputable sources) reckon that the Sigma 17-50 is a tiny bit better.
