    Nikkors 300mm f/4 VR firmware

    From Nikon Rumors

    http://nikonrumors.com/2015/04/16/ni...-vr-lens.aspx/

The firmware update fix is mainly for the D8XX series with the lens being sent back to Nikon for the firmware update

My question is because my lens falls in the affected series of lens number when shooting below 1/125s the VR is not quite right

Does it or is it affection this problem on other bodies eg D750 etc ?

    cheers

    (in this instance)
The lens's operation is independent of the camera body.
So if a problem exists on a lens, no matter which body it's mounted too, that issue still exists on the lens.

The thing with the D8xx series cameras is the higher pixel count, and if you view images for sharpness at 100% pixel ratio, then the blur seems to be more apparent.
The issue still exists on other cameras too .. it's just that with those cameras it won't be as noticeable.

If you're not seeing this issue so much, then don't worry too much .. but still get it updated at some point in the future.

So this in turn means that I will have to return to Nikon for the firmware ?

    Yep.

Nikon lens firmware updates must be done by Nikon service centres.

Hopefully one day all manufacturers will get smart and do what Sigma does on some of their lenses and allow firmware updates(and tweaking) to be done by the user at home, at their own time and leisure.
Wishful thinking of course, but we can always hope.

Has anyone who has to return for an firmware upgrade done this yet?
Is there a free postage service or just to dropout off at the service centre?

    cheers
