    Site interminably slow/stopped

Nearly every time I log in the site runs very slowly or crashes altogether. Below are a selection of the responses I've had over the last 15 minutes, during which time I've managed to successfully open one page, it then crashed during my reply.
Time is 12.45 WST. It's not the connection as I'm successfully surfing in other tabs, including streaming video. This is at work on a windows machine running chrome. The problem still exists in evenings at home using safari on a Mac. Connection speed of approx 70 Mbps. Although not quite as bad as today, mainly just slow to load but it does it eventually.

Any ideas where the problem may lie. Incidentally I'm writing this on tapatalk as that seems to be ok (we'll see when I click "create") :-)

Could be anyone of a myriad of reasons. The site has been reasonably stable of late.

Good. I was simultaneously surfing another forum in another tab and went in and out of various threads, and streamed a video link from a thread. All while watching the little loading circle go round and round in the Aus photo tab.

I wouldn't necessarily argue with Rick's stable comment as it probably is. It doesn't normally crash on me, but is normally very slow. I have been thinking of mentioning it before, but today's effort pushed me into it.

Very strang! (e optional). It has been behaving well for me all day.

Might I suggest a cache clear - Ctrl F5 - log out, close browser and start again.

That's all I can think of at present.

Another thing. It could be a browser add-on. Try disabling all your add-ons and see if the site works fine. If it does re-activate the add-ons one at a time, and test the site again. We have had issues in the past where an add-on has been updated and causes a conflict. We can test the site with all browsers, but because there are thousands of add-ons, we cannot test them. But add-ons certainly can be one point where the cause is.

Tried to open a page here 30 mins ago and it wouldn't load and then it hung up with a message on the screen saying "waiting for cfs.u-ad.info" --- I have never seen that one before.

FF current version, no add ons, pretty good connection here overseas ------

    It's a "snoop" site, Andrew: http://cfs.u-ad.info.w3snoop.com/

How could it be referencing that? Malware?

Hamster. This is not a reply to your problem. How is it now, BTW?

Here at home, fine now. (maybe the east coast being asleep helps? )

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I'll try via IE instead of Google Chrome tomorrow at work, as I know chrome has an add on.

    Just for the information value:

I view Ausphotography in Safari on a Mac, with the AdBlock Plus extension installed. It is considerably faster than viewing it in FireFox, where I have experienced some of the issues that Hamster has been talking about.

Also, for Mac/Safari users who are also FB peeps, there's a wonderful extension called Facebook Cleaner - no ads!

    cheers Deb

I just did an IE versus Chrome race. Both are equally slow (very). I disabled all extensions in Chrome. Possibly a fraction faster than IE now. CArried on comparing and I was still getting "site unresponsive" messages from chrome and had a "page cannot be displayed " from IE. IE hasn't got any extension on it I'm aware of.My comment from last night at home was when browsing on Safari on a Mac (thanks for the tips @Mathy).

I had a similar problem this morning. I had been using the site without trouble, then came back to it 15 minutes later to find it timing out. Other sites were loading fine. This site seems fine again this afternoon though, so maybe there was just some unusual server load or something this morning.
