Post up samples of what you got. I have to scoot off to work in a moment so I'll post up something when I get home later.

Great to meet you too Arthur, and Atholl (MM), Karen, and Jim as well! Will post images later tonight.

    Cheers!

Here's one of mine from Princess Pier.

    D800E, 12mm, f/11, 1/5s.

Not so obvious info. To achieve the 'silky look' to the water in such bright conditions, instead of using ND filters I didn't have, I used a multiple exposure for the raw file.
10 shot multiple exposure of 1/5s(0.2s) each equates to an equivalent 2sec exposure. A single 0.6 grad used to tone down the sky, but then of course wee bit of brightening up in PP was needed!

If you like the idea of the silky smooth water effect in your photography but you're limited by exposure constraints, or funding(for sometimes expensive filter set ups) or even just the physical impossibility of using a filter, as long as your camera has the ability to do multiple exposures(the more the merrier!!) it seems to work fairly well.

My long exposures were pretty uninspiring. I had a darker area that I couldn't see on the camera with the doubling up of the filters.

Haven't gone through my pics properly. Early wakeup with the kids and headed to sydney tomorrow without my mac so will finish up when I get back

Same settings as before D800, 12mm, f/11, 1/5s (with the top image being the 10 image mullti).
Note the only difference is the smoothed water in the top one.

@MM, is the water scene one of the 20 or 30 sec exposures you were doing?(exif has gone all weird).

    Hi guys,

Has the photo loading technique been changed? When I click on the "Insert Image" icon, it asks me to load an image from a URL. It's never done this before.

    I'll message Rick as well.

    Thanks!
    Ern

    Howdy again!

I've added some photos through adding images to an album, not sure how I did that! Anyway, here are some shots from Monday afternoon.

    Cheers,
    Ern

And one of the pier and water; that's what we were there for, right? :-)

    Good stuff Ernie.

Love the one of the woman reading her book (which lens?)

And of course Jim and myself stumped as to why the multiple exposure feature wouldn't work properly!

ps. dunno if you noticed it, but in #1 the skateboarder dude with the camera has an awesome hair style! (perfect timing).

    Thanks, Arthur!

Funny that the EXIF data's not there - I processed these in Lightroom and always retain all EXIF. Funny... Shot that one with the Tamron 70-200 1:2.8, at ISO200, 1/800sec, f/3.5.

Yes, he does have an awesome hair style... :-)

Funny: when I load the image from the gallery (as I did above), the EXIF data seems to be 'stripped out', whereas when I load it using the attachment manager, as I have just now, the EXIF data is included.

Can only say bugger for missing this shoot. What a great concept, comparing the same shot from different photographers. Well done all.

Perhaps you need to reset your spirit level on your tripod? Teehee... If you're going to break the rules...
