A nifty fifty from Yongnuo! ... is cheaper actually better.

Just thought any interested Canon folks may like to see this Yongnuo 50/1.8 mm for Canon lens comparison.

While you could probably get a second hand Canon 50/1.8 for about the price of the Yongnuo lens .. well the Y lens is new at that price.
(nothing beats a new lens I reckon).

Comparison images look pretty good for the Y lens .. and bokeh from the lens looks quite good too!

If there were a Nikon version, I'd reckon I'd have one just for the sake of having a cheap lens(not that I need another 50mm capable lens )

Just thought some folks may be interested.

Thanks for that Arthur! An interesting product line. I see that they have a 50/1.4 as well.

And they are about to release a 35mm f2.0 lens too.
While the 50mm f1.8 looks exactly like the Canon version on the outside, it's actually quite different internally.
For under $50, it could be considered as a throw away lens for use in very harsh conditions where it could easily be damaged.

Aussie dollar has fallen significantly since about late last year.

But yeah, you're right they do appear to be selling for more than they really should be.

Maybe the Chinese(general consumer) have been waiting so long for something they could afford, now that the floodgates have opened demand if high and retailers are cashing in the the demand

Hi All would this Yongnuo 50mm lens be suitable for a crop sensor camera (70D) I know it will fit the camera but as far as I know 50mm isn't 50mm on a crop sensor camera. If my question doesn't make sense it's because I'm a newby Ta

    Hi...

50mm is still 50mm but the angle of view you will see when fitted to your 70D is not as wide as it would be if the lens was fitted to a camera with a 35mm size (full frame) sensor...

Any Canon EF series lenses fitted to your 70D will have a reduced (narrower) field of view...
