Place to take photos of car

My friend wants to take a picture of his dad's car tomorrow - can't remember what it is, but it's a power car, old classic.
I was thinking of an old/abandoned racetrack where we can go in to take some photos

Does anyone know any in Victoria/Melbourne?

If there isn't any, what's a good backdrop for taking photos of a car? I'm thinking underground parking maybe? Any good ones around here where it'll be quiet enough so we can get a few shots?

    Any other suggestions? Thanks

And hope you all had a great Christmas

Now sits as an antique as it no longer focuses properly.

Wishlist: Sony RX10iv (or RX10v if it ever comes out)

any abandoned building/place is often subject to trespass, vandalism etc. Before you go to any of these places which are mostly private property, you need to find the owner or their representative and seek permission.

In the past we have had requests here on AP from legal channels for members details when they have accessed a place/site without permission. So keep this in mind when looking for a location. I am also aware of the owners of one of the other Aussie photography forums having a request from the courts for a member's details. They ended up in court over trespass and damage (they cut a hole in a perimeter fence to gain access).

I've heard of people using the roof parking lot of the South Melbourne market but not sure what the legalities are of it. Also heard of people taking photos from the williamstown side of the westgate bridge. I can't remember where I saw it but will see if I can find a link.

Also under westgate bridge and down the end of Williamstown Rd (Port Melbourne side) Might have changed a bit since it has been a few years since I was down there. The car ferry used to cross the Yarra river and drop you off at Newport. Ahhh those were the days. cheers Brian

Awesome, thank you for the suggestions everyone. Will keep it in mind - the plan was cancelled as he wasn't able to get the car, but we'll be more ready next time
