Is ISO 6400 too high?

I spent a fair bit of time last night taking my first ever series of shots of the night sky with the intention of stacking them using deep sky tracker.
I had been down some caves earlier and set ISO to 6400 and forgot all about it.
Question is : is it worth stacking them or will the ogre of noise rear its ugly head too much?

Maybe open up 1 or 2 of your images to see how much signal noise there is?
It may be possible to clean it up significantly with PP, in which case it is worthwhile to proceed.
On my old Nikon D90, ISO 6400 (I don't even know if I could set it that high! ) would likely have been terrible.

I will need to wait till I get home (on hols just now). If I get another clear night I will try again. Thinking of using 400/800 ISO

Far too many variables to answer that question. Mongo agrees with the suggestion to try opening one or two frames and assess from there.

If it's really dark, and you use ISO 400/800, your exposure times would likely be pretty darn long (e.g. >1min) to get sufficient exposure. In which case the stars would not be points of light, but rather very tiny streaks.
