It should not be noticeably faster, it is the same configuration.
They moved us to sort out a network issue.
We did take the opportunity to upgrade the version of Linux

At times it seem muchs slower to get a page to appear. Seems inconsistent as generally the site works well.
A few times in the last couple of hours I've had this,

    Capture.JPG

Have checked other sites and it's not a problem at my end.

Its shocking to the point Mongo gave up on trying to post answers to other threads and came straight to this one in the hope this message would not be lost like the others.

incredibly slow to the point Mongo thought it was not working
lost replies which fail to post several times
threw Mongo out with error messages several times
would not permit Mongo to log on until multiple attempts.
it is doing some very strange things and doing them slower than a dead tortoise

Mongo has not changed a thing since your last server and is getting normal performance on all other sites he commonly uses, so its not at his end. Using the latest Safari on latest software Imac.

Mongo might try to log on in a few days time to give you some time to sort it out.

    good luck

We have changed some settings -- see how that goes -- we have a bit of tuning to do

I'm seeing similar issues to these. Very slow at times.

you see what happens.....you bad mouth something with the hard truth and the darn thing does a backflip to redeem itself !!

it is now functioning very well - maybe a touch quicker than the old server. It is almost like it took time to recognise Mongo and then tune him in. Whatever the reason, it is now good so far.

UPDATE.....spoke too soon. Its back to its old slow tricks in some functions.......far to slow to be practical. You have still got some work to go Kym

seems to be a bit slower at my end.
cable connection here to net, with close enough to 100Mb/s to not make much difference. average ping speeds are in the 10-16ms range .. most pages on AP seem slower to load than just prior to this server issue.
Pages with lots of images don't seem to make any difference. They all take a few seconds to load up, no matter the content, whereas before, they'd have been loaded in a second or maybe two.

OH! and sometimes replies take ages to process(or whatever it is they do).

Sometimes they take many seconds to process through the actual reply, and then no time to refresh the screen to view your reply once it's all done ....

.. or it's the other way around, it processes through quickly enough(maybe a sec or so) .. but then takes many seconds to refresh back to the screen to see your reply posted up.

It appears to be a network congestion issue.

There server itself if not overloaded.

I've raised a ticket with support (hosting provider).

The server should be a bit quicker now.

We had not turned on web traffic compression or caching of static content. That has been rectified.

You can check if your browser supports compressing (and also check any site) via http://www.whatsmyip.org/http-compression-test/

Definitely a lot faster for me this morning.
all pages load in about a sec for me, which they should with the speed of my connection.

This compressed cache arachno-traffic-jam thingy seems to have helped a bit(lot!!).
