    PF = Phase Fresnel

Apparently corrects chromatic abberation in a different way to the usual ED glass lens elements , enabling a shorter/smaller lens.

Design has been kicking around Nikon halls around for a while. Nikon used it in 2003 on a converter for a P&S
Scroll down to the Phase Fresnel paragraph
    https://nikoneurope-en.custhelp.com/...tail/a_id/1186

This seems to be the first time Nikon has used it on an SLR lens.

The actual technique has been around for a long time (late 1700's if Wikipedia is correct )

O/S retailers have listed it @ US$1995,so will be looking forward to want the Australian retailer would be .
If I were guessing in the range of $2250-$2500.
I won't be the first to buy but will wait and see
Also the keys point are small (Same size as the Nikon 24-70) and lighter
    Time will tell

    cheers

Ordered my intent to buy this newer 300mm lenses.Beaten by a day or so so now will wait till they ring me to said when it lands in to the store.
They offered and extension to the 2yr Nikon warranty.Im tempted to take it up.In the states they offer 1yr warranty plus 4yrs on top, for a total of 5yrs ,dont know if the extra 4yrs is at cost
Here its 2yrs plus 4yrs for a total of 6yrs.Its costs but what the heck its insurance.basically its $109 for the first extra yr then $10 for the next 3yrs,so $139 for 4yrs in more than an
insurance its peace of mind .6yrs peace of mind
    Now to wait

    cheers

Well I got that one wrong!!

This new lens is seriously small and light!
