Very nice bit of kit, I've just got to add a couple of ICUs and I'm all set.

Wanted it for almost 12 months, got it for christmas. Behemoth of a lens (compared to my other gear anyway) but for the price, it can't be beaten.
Congs. I've had a Σ50-500 for a couple of years. I guess it's the go-to lens as it's always on the camera.
You should get some good bird/lunar shots with that.
CC, Image editing OK.
Thanks AM,
Mainly going to use it for my sports work. Used it for some cricket on the weekend and got some awesome results. Cant wait till winter to use it a bit more regularly.

Well, I'm a bit behind in updating here, so this is all over the space of over a year and a half. I acquired a new lens - The Sigma 10-20mm f3.5 DC EX HSM. So far I've been having a lot of fun with that lens. I bought myself a graphics tablet - The Wacom Intuos Manga version. I'm still not great at using that, but I am trying. For Christmas, my husband bought me a new flash - The SB-910. I love it! Best flash I have ever owned. Lastly, and this came with a great deal of debate - A new body. I have been debating whether or not to upgrade to a full frame for a long time, saving up all the while. Initially, I had planned to get the D810, but then the D750 added some interest to the debate and then the D500 really threw a curve ball in. Currently shooting on the D7000, I really wanted something that had better bracketing options on it. I was mostly sold on a FF, but having a number of DX lenses, the D500 certainly had it's advantages over going to FF. In the end, I found that it was time to go to a FF sensor, so the D500 was shelved and the D810 vs. D750 came down to what I needed of it and the price. The positives for the D810 over the D750 were for things I would never use it for, whereas the advantages of the D750 over the D810 were things that I would use, such as low-light focussing response, so the victor was the D750! Sadly though, I haven't had much chance to get out and use it yet.
Congrats on the new stuff, Erin. May it serve you well ... .
So Erin, what particular things sold you on a FF camera??
And I hope you offer the DX lenses for sale on AP before going elsewhere. Maybe you are saving them and the old camera as a backup which is fair enough.
That is exactly the upgrade I made Erin, the D7000 was the king of ISO when I got it and now the 'good photo's' it took look like crap compared to the D750. lots of good info and help here https://www.facebook.com/groups/NikonD750/
Enjoy your new toys.
My partner surprised me with a white box:
I was a bit surprise with the choice of colour initially, but it matches my iPhone 6S.
cameras: Sony A7 II, A7r, NEX-7, A350, HX50V; Canon EOS 70D | Flickr | a very happy Mac user
It works as a remote shutter release for the iPhone camera
Cool. If you want to look at new straps, there are some good after market straps that are way cheaper than the Apple stuff. Hoco makes pretty good stuff. I got my wife a silver milanese loop and myself a link band for about $40 each and they are pretty decent. The Apple bands are a rip off.
Woohoo, I just got new gear!!!! Specifically, a Sigma DN 30mm f1.4 Contemporary lens for my Oly EM10.
Initial impression is good. I'm going to have some fun with this lens.

Is the Sigma 50 - 500 a fair lens for sport close ups say footy?

I think you might find the general consensus among the sports photographers who shoot AFL footy and WAFL is that the Bigma is a bit too slow for footy, especially under overcast or poor lighting. For sports like cricket on the other hand, it is probably going to do a fair job for the price. It's f6.3 at the long end even though earlier models said f5.6. That will mean AF on the cheaper bodies might be a bit iffy as some will not AF with smaller maximum apertures that f5.6. It is a big heavy ##### too, so you'd be well advised to use a monopod. It's never going to be great for all sports and you may be able to work around its short-comings, but there are better, if more expensive, options.
Graeme. CONG-- Hang on! Have you actually got this lens?
As Mark said, post your Q in Gear Talk - aka "elsewhere".
I'll hold off on "RATULATIONS"...
PS: Good one, Warbs.
