An 18-35 Art was on my list.

Just got a message - my KOWA PROMINAR 8.5mm f/2.8 Micro Four Thirds (MFT) wide angle lens (Black) is on its way.

Was a hard choice between the Kowa and the 10.5mm f/0.95 Voigtlander but in the end the wider field of view of 106 degrees won out over the 93 degrees despite the loss of 3 and a bit stops, the non availability of the latter and the anticipated price.

I think I will be doing an early morning seascape early next week.

P.S. Amazing to see how these lenses are made...

Olympus Pen F with Metabones Speed Booster and Laowa 12mm f/2.8 or Voigtlander 10.5mm f/0.95 or Nikon D800 with the Laowa 12mm f/2.8. The need to keep in touch with the past is a Nikon Photomic FTn or Nikon F2A and a Nikkor 25-50mm f/4 AI

Picked up a D3 for $800. Good condition, 50k actuations, 2 x 16Gb Sandisk Extreme CF cards, both batteries etc

A strange decision perhaps in this day & age of 20+ Mp? Some might point out that for that sort of money, I could have bought a much newer DX body with more Megapickles, flippy screen, newer processor etc etc.

Basically for what I want it for (heaps of sport , incl 2-3 day carnivals in rain, hail or shine) it gives me a pigeon pair with same IQ as my D700 but faster & more rugged (and slightly smaller/lighter than the gripped D700)

Over the last couple of weeks, I've shot some landscapes, athletics (day & night), soccer & nighttime netball. Absolutely love it.

    Little Athletics State Champs

Shots #3 & #7 show that at ISO 6400, this old girl still holds her own. Got rather wet shooting my sons high jump with no dramas (just have to watch my unsealed lens mount )

With the D3s bodies still holding their value over $3k, I figured the D3 would be a good step into pro gear for me. Especially at that price

Got my new D750 today. Yes, I bought one 6 months ago, so but it was replaced by the supplier in question 6 months after my purchase.

My original camera was supplied complete with a shutter count of 3000 and photos of dogs testicles on the memory card they left in the camera. I waited for a new camera which was delayed by the recall on the D750 however after watching stock arrive for 2 months in other stores and having very little luck with the store in question, I dropped a note to the HO to complain last night and miraculously the store suddenly received stock today and I received a replacement. Happy days again. Back to shutter count #1

What a disgrace. Name and shame for others that aren't as diligent as you?

Just got a Sony Cyber-shot DSC RX100M3 mainly for street photography. Wacked in a card and battery, fired a few quick shots in auto, and like what I see so far.

I've left it alone for now as they have replaced the goods but it's a clear reminder to check your camera shutter count when you receive it, particularly if it's not a sealed box. Some of the cameras don't come in sealed boxes so that sometimes makes it difficult to know whether it's been used. I check the shutter count on this one and fortunately it's where it should be.

I have just recently got back into photography for the sake of art after a prolonged period of taking few photos... To help me along, I've treated myself to a couple of items I have always wanted to try:

    - Nikon F3. I've always had old school manual film cameras (I currently also own a Nikon FM2), but the F3 is a step up into 'pro' territory. It's a beautiful camera to use.

    - Kiev 88CM. Medium format film cameras always seemed too expensive for me to justify, but then I discovered these old Soviet gems. They kinda look like a Hasselblad, but don't share the same price tag. I've also always wanted a camera which shoots a square aspect ratio natively. I managed to get myself a great example of a Soviet 30mm Fisheye Lens for this camera (there's plenty of compatible lenses available and many are relatively inexpensive).

I'm still mainly shooting digital, but I am now shooting more than I was and starting to put more thought into it...

Got myself a cheap lens hood for my m4/3 60mm macro lens, and a Slik AF-2100 Pistol Grip Head for my monopod as I need all the help I can get these days.
