Yippeee! my Sirui Travel tripod and ball head just arrived from China - so light (carbon fibre), incredibly compact, pretty stable without a bag hanging from the hook and very stable with one. Really nicely finished. Excellent carry bag, short stem and allen keys all included in the $285 price tag plus $40 postage. I am well pleased. Hope it lasts, as I am aware carbon fibre tripods can be very $$$$$$ items and this is comparatively cheap - I will be gentle with it.

Now I'll actually take a tripod with me and not just leave it languishing in the car, or worse, at home in the garage.

Just picked up a Manfrotto MK393-H travel tripod from the local camera shop. Looks pretty sturdy. Will certainly handle a D5100. Just what I need for my holidays!

Tokina 11-16 plus a cokin filter holder and 3 stop grad ND. Hopefully I don't like the filters because my wallet is quivering over the price of Lee and Singh Ray filters!

I just took the plunge this morning. Googbye Canon, hello Fuji! I sold the 5D, 17-40, 24-70, 70-200 and flashgun, got a Fuji X-T1 in return with 18-55 and the 55-200.

Well, after 3 1/2 years of use & abuse, my D3000 will finally get a well-earned rest from sports duty.
I picked up a second hand D700 yesterday off a local wedding 'tog for only $500
As you can imagine for that price, it has been well used - Missing the USB/hdmi door & thumb grip rubber, but ebay will fix that for less than $30. I had a play with it & all is mechanically & electrically sound.

shutter is 54k, and also came with 2 x 8Gb sandisk extreme CF cards, & black rapid strap.

I am already liking how the many settings fall to hand easily without needing to go diving into menus.

Picked up the new D7100 yesterday. It's a completely guilty indulgence as I never got out much with the D3100 and haven't had a good session for ages. But my sister told me she wanted to look at my camera as she was thinking of going DSLR second hand. Rat tat a tat tat. Opportunity for a body upgrade knocked because I've been drooling over a friends 7100 for a while now.

Now to convince the wife that her list is smaller and less important than my list.

Just got my first ultra wide angle lens. Sigma 10-20mm 1:4-5.6 DC HSM. Have played with it for an hour and love it already!

Picked up the new Canon 7D MK11 late this afternoon I have not had time to have a play with it yet.
Though I did take the charger out of the box and charged up that Battery, a freebie to the customers of the first 20 cameras sold where I bought it.
