The "Whoo! I just got new gear!" thread

Just traded in my Sigma 120-400 and got the Canon 100-400. Looking forward to testing it this weekend.

Just received my new Dell UltraSharp U2711 27” Monitor. So many pixels!!! wow!
on sale for just under $700
30inch is on sale too for only $1000, which is an amazing price i just don't have the graphics card to cope with the pixels of the 30" (also 30 is a little big for my needs)

The U3011 is cheap at that price. I got 2 of them soon after they were released, and even with a discount, paid $1500 each for them. Fantastic monitors, they calibrate very well.

I have had my Olympus OM-D E-M5 and the 12-50mm kit lens for about 3 weeks now and I am constantly amazed by this piece of kit. It seemed expensive at the time but the image quality is excellent, heaps better than the Olympus Pen E-P5, and the 12-50mm kit lens is very useful being weather proof, macro (approximately half life-size) and going to a respectable 24mm full-frame equivalent.

Here is a photo from the kit lens in macro mode, hand-held and at a distance of approximately 0.3m

Substantially larger than real life even at this modest image size.

Olympus Pen F with Metabones Speed Booster and Laowa 12mm f/2.8 or Voigtlander 10.5mm f/0.95 or Nikon D800 with the Laowa 12mm f/2.8. The need to keep in touch with the past is a Nikon Photomic FTn or Nikon F2A and a Nikkor 25-50mm f/4 AI

Also had a visit from the Apple Santa although mine was for a Macbook Air max specced. Was considering the Retina but decided I preferred the portability with my external displays at work and home.

I scored a pair of New balance runners My last pair have done 5 years and still have a heartbeat They have had a hard life getting soaked in mud and the usual ware and tare, they have never been washed or looked after and I recon that I will get another year out of them if I don't walk backwards. The tread is starting to come lose at the heel lol

Although not really related to photography It is my new Gear from Santa They are a great all-rounder at $119.00

Nice set of retreads would have done, Dave! Never knew a photographer yet that didn't need a good pair of shoes to get where the shots are!
