Woot. Courier just came with my Nikon D800 - weeee

Well...half an hour ago, after I ran a few fun little things through with it. This camera scares the hell out of me lol, I reckon it could tell me a persons bloody type, merely from the info in the photo.

Holy Moly. A pair of them. Congratulations on the new arrivals - hope they aren't affected by the battery recall.

Nope, first thing I checked and told the local dealer I was ratting his display D7000 and battery stock on the shelf if they were.

Still waiting for my replacement...fortunately I had a couple of spares for the camera so I'm not crippled.

In other news, one of the two packages that I was waiting on arrived from the states this morning, not all of it for my camera, but all heading stormchasing, Inside:
    Sandisk 32GB 60mb/s CF
    Lexar 32GB x600 SDHC
2x Sandisk 32GB 45mb/s SDHC (One is for my chase buddy)
A sandisk card reader (been meaning to get one of these for a while)
Manfrotto Q5 Photo/Movie Head, a short centre column and a spare base plate for the movie head.
A new 1TB Seagate Portable as my storage is starting to get a touch tight.

The last package on its way:
    Optech Pro Strap
    Fader Vari ND Filter MKII

Then I'm all ready for 2 and a half weeks of frantic storm pursuing - 16 Days to go.

    Sony NEX-5N with 16mm and 18-55mm, as well as a 16gb 95mbps memory card.

Lowepro Photo Sports 100 sling bag.

Decided to "shave" my signature ;]
    Now mostly shoots with: Canon 5D MK3 & Canon 24-70 f/2.8/50mm f/1.8 (also have a 550D with a variety of lenses/goodies and a Sony Nex-5N)
PP with: Lightroom only, Photoshop is merely a 9-5 work tool for me.

But, how do you know if/when storms will be 2.5 weeks ahead??

I got myself a new tripod. A Sirui T-2005X 5-section tripod which folds up to 370mm despite extending to over 1.5m. The tripod is rated for 12kg and the head, 20kg and is consequently quite sturdy. Fits in the top of my shoulder bag without sticking out. Despite the small size, weighs in at 1.8kg including the weight of the chunky head.

I will get its first outing at Vivid Sydney next weekend.
    Cheers

    Chasing a D800 around Singapore

While away in Singapore, I bit the bullet on the D800, it was too good to refuse. Quite a few in stock over here, and prices offered were from SG$4010 (what I paid) t0 SG$5500 (silly tourist price) both inc of the 7% GST of which I will get 5.5% back from their TRS. Worked out cheaper than getting it from the USA even before I shipped it to Australia via my 'helpful' freight broker and I have it in my hot little hand.
