I've been using this Tammy for one month now, mainly with my D4s : this is a fantastic combo for most of my usual shots. Bokeh, colour rendition et sharpness are amazing from such a "cheap" high range zoom-lens.
For me, the biggest weakness of this Tammy is its VC (stabilisation system) : not as good as my 200-400/4 or 600 VR. So, most of time I turn the VR off and use high shutter speed (this is not an issue with the D4s !).
As a bird photographer, the Tamron 150-600mm is an excellent walk-around lens for me.

A few more shots from yesterday, all with D4s and handheld :

    Very impressive Sar.

Can't wait to get mine. I'll be swinging it off my Wimberley Sidekick.

I have been thinking of getting one. Looking at your photos, it seems to a great lens for the price.

When I purchased my lens I had it on the D3200 - great lens except a bit slow on the auto-focus. Have since put it on the D800 and it is even better, no auto-focus issues and the IQ is spot on.

It's even faster on the D4s...

This lens will be my next purchase I think, it will be great to have VC as my 50-500 sigma doesn't and it shows.

    Cheers

I'm speechless. It is very sharp for a handheld shot.

Sorry, I've reported this post to the moderators. It should be against site rules to post that you've received a lens and not post samples

    Congrats on the new toy

This serious breach of community enlightenment has been noted, and processes are being formulated to counter such (in)activity!

Temporary punishment will be for the perpetrator to send me their new lens until such time that I've had a really good play with it .. or they post up resulting images(whichever of the two takes longer!)

I'm waiting for someone to post they bought a 400mm f/2.8 before I invoke that rule

My right arm has just begun spasms all over again just thinking of this lens!
(have had a major muscle issue with right arm for the past 3-4months .. can't hold much, let alone the camera .. 400/2.8 is, as already said, a terrifying prospect!)

For the price and the weight, you can have a lot of fun with this Tammy :

    D800, 600mm, wide open (f/6.3), handheld.

Even this young kite was surprised by the Af speed of the Tamron :

    D4s, @600mm, f/7.1, handheld.

The Tamron is certainly on the wishlist after seeing these stunning shots. Thanks for the info.
