Angry Err 70 problem on Canon EOS 7D

My 7D is 8 months old and I'm getting a Err 70 message when I take a photo.
I have never had an issue with my old 60D or 500D

This is happening on Auto, P, Av, Tv, M and B modes.
On C1, C2 and C3 it takes perfect pictures.

It takes a picture and displays it on the screen with the CF card removed.

I have formatted the CF card(Sandisk 16GB Extreme)

I've tried 5 lenses to no effect and I have removed battery and battery door for 20 mins, and even have tried a different battery(Both Genuine).
I have cleaned the battery contacts also.

Any ideas before I take it to get looked at?

Im just charging my battery now to rule out that as well.

    Thanks for reading.

Yes, it sounds like all the things you should do according to the manual.
Just below that in the manual it says that if the problem persists you should contact Canon Service Centre.

Well, if the 8 months means it's still under warranty...

Good luck with it. (Isn't it a pain!)

PS: The manual isn't big on explanations of Err msgs.

I have found the issue with the camera. I read up about this error and it is the camera writing the image to the CF card.
So..... I decided to check some settings. For some unknown reason, the cameras image quality settings were on S(4.5MP) instead of L(18MP).

    Much happiness again!!!

I hope it persists - the -iness, I mean. Strange that the error should manifest itself just because of image size. The camera should be quite capable of
    handling smaller files!?!

I'd being seeking Canon's official advice, and have it recorded, as if it happens at 13 months, you may not be so lucky.

There's lots on the net re this, especially on early 7D's, lots have had Canon replace the camera.

If it was mine, I'd be all over Canon. But it's not, so back to you.
