The AP moderators and I have been working on the competition rules, behind the scenes, this morning. Partly this was to get rules setup for our new bestcanvasprintsonline quarterly competition. However we also removed the * dot point format of all competition rules and replaced then with numbered rules. This will assist members and us when questions are raised about a particular rule as we can now quote the specific rule number(s) for easier reference.
We also added a new rule regarding members experience levels and being upgraded. This became more of an issue now that we have a competition with a three month entry phase.
The following rule has been added to Photo of the Week, Photo of the Month and Bestcanvasprintsonline Quarterly Competition
17. Competition Level Upgrades
If, during the period of the competition, a member's competition level is upgraded the member may not enter a second entry at the new level.
For example, if the member had entered an image as a beginner, then was upgraded to intermediate, they may not enter a second entry for the same weekly, monthly, quarterly competition. Entering twice could see both entries disqualified. If a member had not entered the competition at all, that member can enter an image in the competition of their new level.
At the discretion of the moderation team, an entry of an upgraded member may be moved to the new level competition.
This rule is to cover the case where someone is clearly out of category. An example of this may be that their initial level was set as (say) beginner when the evidence of their experience and work shows they should have been intermediate or even advanced.
This rule was necessary as it is possible to enter the same competition twice (at each level) when upgraded. As members can also upgrade themselves, it was also possible for someone to join as a beginner, enter a competition, upgrade themselves to intermediate, and enter the intermediate level of the same competition, and then upgrade themselves to advanced, and again enter the same weekly, monthly, quarterly competition.
We have also made some minor changes to the wording of other rules to clarify them further.
All competition (and other) rules are available for members to view via the FORUM RULES menu across the top of the site.
