5DMKiii update

Is there any update planned for the 5DMKiii or any of the Canon range shortly? I am looking to upgrade the 7D which I have just given to my sister in law. Looking at the 5DMKiii. As it has been out for a while now, I was wondering will it be updated or will the 7D or 6D get an upgrade? I don't want to buy the 5D & then an update camera come out.

Hi, I just recently purchased the 5DMKIII.

I believe its been out less than 12 months. Info I received at the time of purchase said it would be a good 3-4 years before they looked at upgrading it again. Then again who can tell what the manufacturers will do

Fantastic camera though, recently Canon updated the firmware on it as well.

Canon recently said they would not be upgrading the 7D til late 2014 at the earliest.

Interesting to note that the 70D is retailing for more than the 7D

I can't believe you are hesitating to buy the 5Diii for the reason given! The model is nearly 3 years younger than the 7D, and the 7D replacement is not even on the horizon yet!

If you wait for an upgrade to a particular camera model, then you will always be waiting for an update and never buy anything. Once a model is released it is always going to be inline for an update.

If a MkIII is what you want, buy it now and enjoy it, it is a damn fine camera and will be just as good after a new model is released, which won't be for many years
