As per the site rules, any discussion about taxes etc is only member opinion.

However, any item valued at over $1000.00 can be subject to taxation on import.

I bought my 70-200 from B&H (5 or 6 years ago I think) at the same time as a mate. I live in metro SA while he lived in Mt Gambier. We paid the same but I got hit with the import tax (around $700 from a very foggy memory) while he didnt Go figure!!

I think you will find reputable US retailers won't sell you new Nikon gear if they know you are in Oz. I know B&H won't anymore. Nikon have really pushed the 'buy from your country's official dealer' bandwagon in recent times

Use PayPal - nice and secure, use your existing, or set a new account, then register on http://www.hopshopgo.com/hopshopgo/s...g.do?l=en&c=AU

This gives you a US address for shipping which then reships to you.
