Well I am writing this post from the airport in KL after spending a week in Australia for Xmas and another week visiting the family in Cambodia. I have finally settled on my travel kit I will use over the next 12 months whilst living and travelling in Europe (and the US).
My kit comprises of
Canon 6D (love this body)
Canon 16-35
Canon 24-70 (but may swap this for the recently purchased sigma 50mm)
Canon 70-300L (new addition to the stable)
Canon EX220 flash
Lowepro slingshot 220AW
A couple of notes to the above:
Although I am in love with my 24-70, I may leave it behind in favour of the recently purchased 50mm only due to the weight factor.
After seriously considering the 70-200 F4 lens, I was starting to question why I wanted two lenses with the same focal length. I read reviews and managed to get a good price on a Canon 70-300L. This lens is outstanding across the whole focal range, and although around 300g heavier than the 70-200 F4, the overall dimensions and extra 100mm reach sealed the deal for me.
The above kit easily fits into the Lowepro 220AW (with the 70-300L attached) and is no problems making the weight regulations for carry on for air travel.
Time will tell, but I think I have found the "perfect travel kit"
