If its IQ turns out to be at least as good as the Sigma 150-500 and its price isn't too prohibitive it will be a very tempting proposition.
They are both f/5-6.3. The Tammy is only 41g heavier ( 1951g) and 5.8mm longer (257.8mm). It requires a 92mm filter vs the Siggy's 86mm.

    Review here http://it.wyswig.com/2014/01/02/revi...nglish-review/

    Final comment :
A good value lens appear in the market ! 600mm reach , F6.3 does not a matter for DSLR nowdays which have good ISO , fast focus , light weight (1.9KG with tripod mount), also a very long warranty period (3-6 years as i remember in Hong Kong ) . I am very impressive with this lens .

Well my D600 is off to a new home so I am now in a position to acquire the Tammy.

I phoned Maxwells today and they said they are expecting stock in three weeks. Woohoooo !!!! Can't wait.

While I was doing my research I came across this image taken from what appeared fairly close range on a D600. I gave it a small tweak and was most impressed to see the shadows of the eyelashes on the eyeball.

**image removed. You can post a link to where the image is on the net, but you cannot take the photo and upload it to AP, if you do not own copyright to it. So please just post a link to the image : admin**

Don't think you're allowed to post other people's photos Kev.

I'll report the post myself Jim.

If I could remember where I got it from, I'd give credit to the photographer.

Oh well, hopefully in about a month I'll be able to post some of my own shots taken with the lens.

    Cheers

    Found the link. http://www.dpreview.com/forums/post/53764413

I downloaded the 16MB RAW file and had a play. I've actually found a copy of the lens but the shop that has is want full retail, and I don't blame them as it is hot property, so I'll just be patient and wait three weeks. My reason for wanting this lens, apart from it's apparent sharpness, is for the VC, Tamron-speak for anti-shake.

One thing is for sure(actually two but one important, and one personal) this lens appears for all the world to work extremely well.

LensRental have also tested this lens against the Canon 100-400 and they concluded that it's as good as, also has great resolution at the 500mm range and only suffers a touch at the 600mm range.

more image comparisons here(if you're interested).

OH! the other thing that is for sure .. is that I'll have one too, as soon as the finances allow and are available from local stores at the proper price.

From all reports it looks the goods, but I suppose like most things, the proof of the pudding will be in the eating.

As I discovered from my experiments with stacked T/C's, stability and technique will be big deciders in your results.
